Portland Fire Mock Draft
WNBA Mock Draft • 2026 Season
Portland Fire Draft Analysis
The Portland Fire hold the No. 7 overall pick in their first-ever WNBA Draft, along with the No. 17 and No. 37 selections. Portland's expansion draft strategy leaned heavily toward versatility and long-term upside: Bridget Carleton provides veteran leadership and floor spacing as a 37-percent three-point shooter, Haley Jones brings playmaking at the forward spot, and Carla Leite offers developmental potential as a young lead guard. Head coach Alex Sarama also made a futures bet on Nika Muhl, who will miss the entire 2026 season recovering from a torn ACL. The result is a roster loaded with secondary creators and wing defenders but lacking a true go-to scorer and significant interior presence. Portland needs an immediate-impact talent who can be the centerpiece of the franchise going forward.
Nell Angloma, the 19-year-old French wing, is one of the most commonly mocked fits at No. 7. She has been a major riser in this draft class after an impressive season averaging 15.5 points and 5.6 rebounds in France's top league. At her size, Angloma is a physical, athletic wing who thrives in transition and getting downhill, and her youth aligns perfectly with Portland's patient, development-oriented approach under Sarama. If Angloma is unavailable, Flau'jae Johnson from LSU would give the Fire exactly the kind of perimeter scoring punch they are missing, with the ability to create her own shot off the dribble and the defensive chops to match Portland's identity. At No. 17, Portland could target Marta Suarez from TCU, who averaged 17.1 points and knocked down 84 three-pointers this season, or Janiah Barker from Tennessee for frontcourt depth. The Fire have the draft capital to build this roster in layers, and the No. 7 pick will set the tone for the franchise's identity.
