Washington Commanders Mock Draft
National Football League Mock Draft • 2026 Season
Washington Commanders Draft Analysis
Washington's 5-12 regression was startling for a team that reached the NFC Championship Game just a year prior, and the front office responded with an aggressive defensive overhaul. The Commanders signed edge rusher Odafe Oweh to a $100 million deal and added K'Lavon Chaisson, linebacker Leo Chenal, and safety Nick Cross, committing over $111 million combined to fix a defense that could not get off the field. On offense, running back Rachaad White and tight end Chig Okonkwo were added, though the receiving corps behind Terry McLaurin still needs work after the team missed on both Alec Pierce and Romeo Doubs in free agency.
At No. 7, Carnell Tate is a popular projection if he's still available. The Ohio State receiver's polished route-running and reliable hands would give Jayden Daniels a true No. 2 target opposite McLaurin, and his ability to win contested catches and work all three levels of the field makes him one of the most pro-ready receivers in the class. If Tate is gone, Sonny Styles' versatile linebacker-safety skill set could further transform the defensive rebuild, giving Washington an elite talent to anchor the second level. David Bailey also remains in the conversation if the front office wants to double down on the pass rush and create a truly dominant edge rotation alongside Oweh and Chaisson. If Daniels can stay healthy, this roster has enough talent to bounce back quickly, but the No. 7 pick needs to be a difference-maker to accelerate the timeline.
