New England's 14-3 season was one of the great turnaround stories in recent memory, and the challenge now is sustaining it. At No. 31, the Patriots need to find an edge rusher or interior defender to keep the defense dominant while Drake Maye continues to develop. Damien McDonald, the massive interior lineman, has been mocked to New England by Daniel Jeremiah as a run-stopping force who could anchor the defensive line for years.
The offensive line also deserves attention - Maye showed flashes of being a franchise quarterback, and protecting him is non-negotiable. Some mock drafts have the Patriots reaching for a tackle here, which could work given the depth at the position, but the smarter play might be taking the best defensive player available and addressing the line on Day 2. The AFC East has gotten more competitive, and the Patriots' magical season won't repeat itself without roster additions that maintain the standard set in 2025.
