Kansas City Chiefs Mock Draft
National Football League Mock Draft • 2026 Season
Kansas City Chiefs Draft Analysis
The Chiefs' 6-11 season was a stunning fall from grace, capped by Patrick Mahomes tearing his ACL in a Week 15 loss that ended any lingering playoff hopes. Kansas City enters the draft with two first-round picks at Nos. 9 and 29, the latter acquired by trading All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Rams. The secondary was gutted this offseason, with McDuffie and cornerback Jaylen Watson both heading to Los Angeles, safety Bryan Cook signing with the Bengals, and linebacker Leo Chenal joining Washington. The Chiefs signed Kenneth Walker III to address the run game and acquired Justin Fields from the Jets as quarterback insurance while Mahomes recovers.
Cornerback is the most glaring need, and Mansoor Delane from LSU is the most commonly mocked selection at No. 9. His elite press coverage skills, 40 percent completion rate allowed, and scheme versatility would give Steve Spagnuolo an immediate starter opposite third-round pick Nohl Williams. But there is no strong consensus on the Chiefs' plans. Rueben Bain Jr. is visiting Kansas City ahead of the draft, and his explosive pass-rush ability could address an edge group that managed just 35 sacks last season. Offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa and wide receiver Carnell Tate have also been linked to the ninth pick, as Kansas City needs to both protect Mahomes upon his return and give him more weapons beyond Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice. At No. 29, the Chiefs can double-dip at cornerback with Tennessee's Colton Hood or address another position of need. This is the most pivotal draft of the Mahomes era, and Kansas City needs to hit on both first-rounders to get back to contending.
