Detroit Lions Mock Draft
National Football League Mock Draft • 2026 Season
Detroit Lions Draft Analysis
Detroit's 9-8 season ended earlier than expected, and the Lions' need for offensive line help and edge defense has only grown louder this offseason. At No. 17, the best available offensive tackle could go a long way toward protecting Jared Goff, whose pocket time cratered down the stretch. Multiple mock drafts have the Lions trading up a few spots to secure their preferred lineman, and with GM Brad Holmes' track record of draft-night aggression, that wouldn't surprise anyone.
If the value points defensive, Cashius Howell from Texas A&M is an intriguing edge prospect whose outside speed move and deceptive power could develop into a starting-caliber rush. Howell's production was inconsistent at times, but his best film - particularly against SEC offensive lines - shows a player with the tools to produce at the NFL level. Detroit's championship window is open, and this pick needs to be someone who can contribute to a playoff run, not a multi-year development project.
